HEARING LOSS CONSUMERS

Hearing loss can be a real challenge. Unfortunately, most of us use highly ineffective ways of managing this challenge. We don’t mean to – they creep up on us slowly but surely. That is why it is imperative that we seek out the education and support that’s available to us. There are effective ways of coping that reduce and/or minimize the hidden impact of hearing loss. However, if we are uneducated about this hidden impact, how can we determine the most effective way to cope?

Therefore the primary goal of THE KOOSER PROGRAM is to increase awareness of this hidden impact and how to live with it effectively. This is accomplished through participants learning about the following topics related to hearing loss:

  • Types of hearing loss
  • How to read an audiogram
  • Negative coping mechanisms
  • Positive communication strategies
  • Assertiveness
  • Grief process
  • Relationship issues

Real time captioning is provided at all workshops. We strongly encourage each participant to bring a support person with them as hearing loss impacts our loved ones as well.

While based in Ohio and available throughout the state, THE KOOSER PROGRAM is also located in the following states: Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, and Arizona. If you have a hearing loss, live in one of these states or are able to travel to one of them and would like to attend THE KOOSER PROGRAM – welcome! Please contact Leslie Iannarino at 937-291-8842 or E-mail her at leslieiannarino@yahoo.com for information regarding workshop dates, locations, fees and registration for this valuable aural rehabilitation program.

We are confident you will leave the workshop feeling empowered to deal effectively with this challenging life circumstance. Although hearing loss plays a role in shaping and defining those of us who experience it, it does not have to stop us from becoming who we are meant to be nor from living the lives we are meant to live!
