Consumer Testimonials:
“THE KOOSER PROGRAM workshop is a wonderfully informative and deeply moving experience. I am very thankful for the opportunity to have been a part of this life changing workshop. It allowed me to face my fears and for the first time in three years, I am able to acknowledge and accept my hearing disability. It is truly an eye opening experience; an experience not without personal healing. |

| “Coming into the seminar I was clueless. I didn’t know what to expect. I was drawn into myself as I had become somewhat of a hermit; living in the dark. When the second day of the seminar concluded it was as if someone turned on a light to help me find my way again.” |

| “My husband, who has good hearing, said that every spouse and family member of a hearing-impaired person should be made to attend the class because it provides better understanding of the different world in which the hearing-impaired person must live.” |

Professional Testimonials:
I am in private practice in Georgia and have always wanted to use something to help my patients get a better understanding of the impact hearing loss has on their lives. This workshop is the answer. Although I have used other aural rehabilitation programs, The Kooser Program enables the patient to come to grips with hearing loss through education and participation. It is a wonderful tool and adds to the uniqueness of an individual practice.

| "I am truly privileged to get to work with Cathy Kooser-Fathergill and THE KOOSER PROGRAM. Cathy has made it her life’s work to create a program that addresses the emotional impact of hearing loss for the hearing impaired population. I have attended the program twice and have been amazed by the transformation of the attendees over the two day workshop. Those that felt alone with their hearing loss or those that didn’t feel supported by their families, emerged with a new found confidence and effective strategies to improve their relationships. Those that were reluctant to attend the first day of the workshop were always the first to be there on the second day. This workshop is truly a life changing experience. Offering this program to your patients will enhance their quality of life as well as put your practice on an entirely different level from your competition." |

How could I learn anything new about the emotional impact of hearing loss? I have had a hearing loss for over forty years, and I have been performing hearing tests and fitting hearing aids for 20 years. Within the first 30 minutes I was learning and was emotionally involved with the program. “I never looked at it that way,” “Oh yeah,” “You know that is true” were my comments and thoughts.
And so it went as I participated in a 3 day training program that changed my views of the total package that hearing impaired individuals and families need. Oh yes, I felt we were taking this too far as we discussed self esteem, fear, verbal abuse, anxiety, anger, depression, guilt, active listening and taking responsibility. The more I kept an open mind the more my mind became open. Yes, Yes, Yes, -- I benefited and learned and can’t wait to teach others that want to understand themselves better and do something positive for self and family. |

I was one of 6 who attended the first training session for THE KOOSER PROGRAM. The aural rehabilitation program and format is excellent. We went through the concept behind the program, reviewed several critical slides and did practice sessions. One of the most important facets of this program is the psychosocial and emotional aspects of dealing with a hearing loss. Many of us in the group also suffer from some form of hearing impairment and we saw first hand how moving this program can be.
I am excited to bring this program to my patients and residents in Arizona and hope you will find the value in it as well. I highly recommend this program. |

In order to offer a more holistic approach to serving the needs of the hearing impaired, I have always felt the need to offer some type of aural rehabilitation in addition to the normal "counseling" provided during my routine hearing aid fittings. For several years, I kept thinking I would put together a program and implement it, but there was never time. When I attended Cathy Kooser-Fathergill's program in February at the AHAA convention, her presentation was impressive, as were the testimonies of patients who had attended this two-day workshop. Because of Cathy's own hearing loss, she has a unique perspective on the emotional journey hearing impaired individuals take as they deal with hearing loss during their various life stages. She has used her experiential knowledge to develop this program over the last seven years. Because of my initial positive impression of the program, I decided to inquire about it. When I was selected as a beta site, I was thrilled! (Read more of Angela's testimonial)

“As a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the Deaf and hard of hearing (now retired) for over 22 years for the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission, I had the pleasure of being able to use THE KOOSER PROGRAM to the benefit of many of my hard of hearing consumers. I strongly encouraged all of my hard of hearing consumers to attend the program, and the majority of those consumers did attend – some reluctantly so. However, those who attended all gave very positive feedback about the program, and often those most reluctant to attend got the most out of the program!
When the hard of hearing consumers attended THE KOOSER PROGRAM, they were much more successful in wearing their hearing instruments as well as having a better understanding of positive communication techniques both at work and in their home lives. Positive feedback was often given by the consumers’ spouses as well.
Another benefit of consumers attending THE KOOSER PROGRAM was that I saw very little recidivism when the consumer attended the training. Once attending the program, the consumer was much better prepared to plan for future needs related to their hearing loss, and much less likely to return for additional services.
I found THE KOOSER PROGRAM to be exceptionally beneficial to my hard of hearing consumers and would encourage others to take advantage of this wonderful program.” |
